Despite successfully undertaking my Sewing Machine Licence in Year 7 Textiles, my ability with a sewing machine is somewhat limited. I'm competent at going in a straight line, but that's about it. This is cause for lamentation from my mother, who is an artist with her Pfaff. I did actually sew something earlier this year, during my mother's illness, when I made an Ear Pillow to her design (this turned out to be a small, donut-shaped cushion that lifted her ear off her regular pillow), but I'm rather better at hand-sewing.

So we've combined our abilities for this project: a Baby Elephant cot quilt, based on a pattern by Anne Gadsby Designs, for a friend who's expecting a baby. I embroidered twelve elephant squares and my mother put them all together with a cartoon jungle print border. I think it's very cute.

But you be the judge )
